Riveted Leaf Earrings with Guest Instructor Sylvie Alusitz

(photo examples and price to come)

Join us for a special metalsmithing workshop taught by guest instructor Sylvie Alusitz and presented in collaboration with Halstead, a jewelry supplier based in Prescott, Arizona.

In this class, you'll create a pair of nature-inspired leaf earrings while learning a variety of foundational and intermediate jewelry-making techniques. Starting with sheet metal, you'll texture your leaves using hammers, texture plates, stamps, and the rolling mill to create unique organic surfaces. You'll then learn how to add a riveted vein down the center of each leaf, exploring cold connections as an alternative to soldering.

To finish your design, you'll add tube-set stones that resemble sparkling dew drops resting on the leaves, bringing color and dimension to your earrings.

Skills You'll Learn:

  • Sawing and piercing metal

  • Creating texture with hammers and/or stamps

  • Riveting and cold connections

  • Tube setting stones

This workshop is perfect for beginners looking to expand their skills as well as experienced makers interested in exploring new techniques. You'll leave with a beautiful pair of handcrafted earrings and a deeper understanding of both mechanical connections and stone setting.
